We delivered a new school building on time, through a pandemic, while achieving 70% MWBE design team participation.
Challenges
The project replaced an existing school building while keeping the gym in use, all during an active school year. An 8-month design period and 16-month construction window were already tight before COVID-19 made cost estimating and stakeholder coordination exponentially harder.
Services
We managed the full pre-construction process — procuring the design and construction teams, controlling the budget and schedule, reviewing contracts, and monitoring minority business participation. Throughout the pandemic, we kept communication open and stakeholder expectations grounded.
Outcomes
The building was completed through the pandemic with 70% MWBE participation on the design team and 40% minority participation in construction. The result is a school the North Chicago community can be proud of for generations.
